We went to my mother-in-law's house for Halloween tonight. My parents and husband and I took the kids around. James was a hamster, Daniel was himself, and Sophie was a Ladybug. At the last moment, Daniel decided to be a bumblebee instead of himself.
Since they're so little, they got tired after about 7 or 8 houses. I think the idea of Halloween is more exciting than the day itself. James spent months pouring over catalogs of Halloween costumes, only to pick out the first one he saw in Target. It was a dog, but he called himself a hamster.
My mother-in-law served KFC and dunkin' donuts; very unusual. She usually gets pretty cutsey and serves Halloween-themed items like orange cupcakes or witch's brew soup.
I think she was pissed anyway. Jeff called her out to take pictures with us (she stayed in when we went trick or treating. Since her heart surgery, walking far is too much for her). I was trying to get a picture of just me and Jeff and the kids. I told her to wait one minute while we finished the photo. "I'll just go back inside," she said, pivoted, and went back in the house. Who knows what she was thinking.
How strange to write a blog about something other than computer mediated communication.
